Publication Day: Artifacts & Artifice, Character Compendium 2, and Discounts
about 6 years ago – Tue, Nov 06, 2018 at 03:03:10 PM

Continuing to work the pipeline of books, and have published a ton of stuff recently. Although I am--as I always am!--behind schedule, I could not be prouder of Artifacts & Artifice and the Character Compendium 2.

As promised, I have assembled discounts for existing backers, both as a thank-you for your patience, and as a fringe benefit of helping support my work. Thank you again for your support, confidence, feedback, and above all, your patience!

The discounts available via the below are all 25-33% off of published retail prices.

Free for You: Solo Adventuring Toolkit
about 6 years ago – Sat, Sep 29, 2018 at 03:49:20 PM

Quick update that creation of Artifacts & Artifice has been completed. Remainng fulfillment will be ASAP over the next week or two as I get final proof hardcopies of the books I've submitted to the printer for validation. More good news: I'm tracking to finish the Character Compendium 2 by Halloween, and hopefully the Villainous Compendium by Thanksgiving.

As most of you know, as I complete one project, I typically launch another. This latest is the FlexTale Solo Adventuring Toolkit, or FTEG SAT. This was a Stretch Goal spawned from the FlexTale Encounter Generator Kickstarter. As promised, I'm launching this latest KS in an effort to help make it as awesome as possible, and to offer it cheaply to those who might be interested.

As my pipeline of books is behind schedule, and because I'm so excited about this new concept, I will be giving FREE copies of all digital rewards of the FTEG SAT to ALL current backers of ALL my projects. You don't need to do a thing.

As with all other Kickstarters, the introduction of a new one will in NO WAY whatsoever affect the current pipeline of books. I'm working on those as quickly as humanly possible, and am producing more, more quickly, than at any point in my life. I'm thrilled to be fulfilling Artifacts & Artifice, and I look forward to much more fulfillment in the very near future.

So sit back and relax. Check out the campaign if you wish, or feel free to pledge if you're interested in a hardcopy.

Thanks as always for your support, and I look forward to churning out much more work shortly!

IGS State of the Nation: July 2018
over 6 years ago – Thu, Jul 05, 2018 at 10:24:37 PM

Hello, backers! It's been a minute, so I wanted to update everyone on the state of the Infinium Game Studio situation.

Executive Summary

  • Everything's behind schedule.
  • Everything's more awesome than it was originally going to be.
  • Whatever you're currently owed in terms of backer rewards is likely to be at least a little delayed from the original target date... but also quite a bit more awesome than you may have expected.

A Slightly More Informative Summary

IGS' current situation continues the tradition thus far of behind behind where I wanted to be, but having far more vision of what I want to do. Each and every project I've worked on thus far has turned out to be far, far more than I had initially intended or promised.

Dark Obelisk 1 was supposed to be a 32-64 page adventure, and turned out to be nearly 1,200 pages all told. Berinncorte Basecamp, same kind of thing: initial vision 32 pages, final product around 850. Dark Obelisk 2, that's the behemoth: 1,500 pages, very nearly. Artifacts & Artifice, which is publishing imminently, was originally conceived of as a 32-64 page kind of thing, and is now two 400-page hardcovers.

And so on.

The vision keeps growing, and my commitment to deliver keeps growing. It's no exaggeration to say that I've never felt more proud, excited, or creatively alive in my life. And I owe it all to you, my backers.

Discount Policy for Delayed Work

The bad news is that I take my time, and that delivery dates for damn near everything is, let's say it, ambiguous. The good news is twofold: first, I do strive to create enormous, world-class output. But second, I will always try and offer discounts to all backers whose target fulfillment dates slip as a result of other work in the pipeline. Basically, if there's a product whose completion delays what you're entitled to, you will get a discount on that product once it's published. It's not a perfect solution... a perfect solution would be having the ability to deliver everything on time as projected. But it's what I can do, so I pledge to do it.

Artifacts & Artifice

AA1 is finished, and PDFs fulfilled for Pathfinder. Hardcover proof is just about finalized. 5E edition to follow shortly after that. AA2 is my full creative and writing attention at the moment, until it's complete.

Character Compendium 2

Still where it was: everything's done, just need to lay it out. If you're owed a custom character and haven't gotten back to me with your input, please do so at your convenience.

Villainous Compendium

This is gonna be awesome: 35 villains, 58 henchmen, each villain with their own map(s) and quest(s). It's gonna be an enormous book for sure. Half the crunch is already done, actually, and outlines for every single villain, map, and quest are done as well. I didn't announce it broadly, but I did launch a quickie Kickstarter to see if there was interest in making a 5E version. Wow, has there been interest. So, that's awesome.

Druid Enclave

This will be several books, all of which existing backers are due to receive at no extra charge: the core setting book, an atlas, a players' guide, and a mini Artifacts & Artifice booklet for DE-related weapons, armor, equipment, and gear. It's all outlined fairly well, I just need to finish the above pipeline so I can give it my full attention.

Aquilae: Bestiary of the Realm

This is actually two kickstarters, which includes the ABR, and the Expanded ABR. Short version is that there's a truly titanic amount of monsters involved here, an entire bookshelf's worth in fact. Crunch is already 100% done for the core two books, and 35% done for the entire slew of 1,200 expanded beasties. These numbers will progress in parallel to all of the above work.

Western Realm Gazetteer

The newest string of books, this will have to wait in line to receive full attention... however, as it's a compilation of the world in which everything else exists, one might easily argue that work on anything else also helps contribute to work on WRG and its related products. The entire Realm of Aquilae, the Oceanic Realm, under-crust Fissures, and the planetary Darkside are all entirely mapped out at a macro level, and my methodology to quickly and ruthlessly attack all of the mapping required is fairly well-established.

FlexTale Encounter Generator

The expanded FTEG, massively updated, will be published alongside the Western Realm Gazeteer. This will also include nearly all of the Context books as well, as they're all fairly integral to using the WRG. In between here and there, however, updated FTEG iterations will be published when Druid Enclave and the ABR are released.

All the Other Books

The DO2 and BB campaigns unlocked a slew of other books. Those will follow after the above in the pipeline. I recognize that that means you're in for a wait. To that end, I will pledge that everyone who signs up for a product that's later in the pipeline, will receive bonus content and/or extras for free. For example, the next book in line is Prior Lives, whose vision has (naturally) expanded beyond the 200-page original intent. If you're already entitled to a copy of PL... well, let's just say you bought at the right time, as you'll be getting a lot of stuff for free. Stay tuned.

Thank You

One final note to you all, if you're still reading this: Thank you. Seriously. Thanks to your faith, confidence, interest, and pledges, I'm able to do what I now realize I've always wanted to do. As I've mentioned before, I am not in this for profit, and I end up pumping nearly everything back into my work and the company. I'm legit excited to work on all of this stuff, and it never for a moment feels like work to me. I hope that for those who have received delivery of any of my work, that it's useful to you, and that you're able to harness and benefit from that excitement. Stick with me.... the best is yet to come, for sure.

Artifacts & Artifice Volume 1 Pathfinder PDF Fulfilled
over 6 years ago – Wed, Jun 20, 2018 at 01:00:26 PM

Huzzah!

FYI, AA1 for PFRPG has been completed and fulfilled via PDF.

If you are owed a copy of this PDF and have not received a notification from RPGnow, please contact me so I can investigate.

Those owed a 5E PDF also received a Pathfinder PDF so you can get a fuller sense of what to expect shortly. :)

AA1: A Long Road

For those who have been waiting for AA1, thank you for your patience. I believe the wait has been worth it, for what was at one point conceived of as a 32-page softcover booklet has become two, ~400 page hardcovers.

With a second volume soon to follow!

I'm super proud of this work as I believe even the most time-pressed GM can literally flip to any page just about, and immediately have not just a unique and fully fleshed-out magic item to insert into any campaign setting, but also a full gaming session's worth of adventure content, plus inspiration to fuel many further sessions. All with zero or minimal preparation.

What's Next for AA

  • Pathfinder PDFs are now fullfilled.
  • The PFRPG hardcover is in review with the printer.
  • While that's in review, I'll continue to work on AA2.
  • Once I get the approval for PFRPG hardcovers, I will be fulfilling hardcover shipments to those who are owed a copy.
  • Work on the 5E conversion of AA1 should be quick once I get approval of the PFRPG hardcover; all of the crunch has been completed so it's mostly just some layout.
  • As a thank-you for your patience, all current backers of all KS projects will receive discount codes for AA1 and AA2 so you can pick them up at a discount off of retail.
